My Approach
We begin our work with exploration of the problem as currently understood, moving on to discuss underlying dynamics at a process level. Change can involve many possibilities and uncertainties. How we navigate this chapter of the work is based upon a mutual endeavour, where management of anxieties becomes important, as well as affirming new-found autonomy.
My approach is to proceed at a pace that suits the client, meaning that in due course vulnerability can be explored in safety. Open-ended working allows for material to emerge when the conditions are favourable.
Time-limited work may be suitable for an identified issue, supposing that is where the problem really lies. Often the aetiology of our problems go deeper than we suppose, and this makes an argument for extending the work if necessary.
